Father: What happened, Ojas? You seem to be in a deep thought.
Ojas: Nothing papa. A few days back, the essay competition I had taken part in, its result has come.
Father: So then, the result isn’t good?
Ojas: Actually, I was expecting to stand first; but, I finished fourth.
Father: Oh! What’s there in it to be sad? Out of so many talented kids, you came fourth. It’s no mean feat.
Ojas: But still dad, I didn’t come first.
Father: Beta, your intention in life should be to participate and not always to win. Then only you can succeed in it.
Mother: What discussion is going on between dad & son? Discussing a serious issue?
Father: Nothing Megha, I was explaining something to him. This stupid is upset over coming fourth in essay writing competition.
Mother: My Ojas! You are so smart, you shouldn’t get upset over petty things. In the future, you’ll have many other competitions and exams where you’ll get a chance to showcase your talent. Getting upset over a failure is foolishness, instead you should take a lesson from this and prepare for upcoming exams and competitions.
Ojas: You’re right. There is no use of being upset, rather I should start preparing for forthcoming exams.
Father: That’s the spirit! I expected the same from you. Many failures will come in life. But, you have to learn from them without losing the spirit, struggle hard and constantly grow in life. This is what life is all about.
Mother: This lesson that your father just gave you, make sure you remember it life-long. Follow it at every stage of your life.
Ojas: I’ll always remember it mummy, don’t worry!
